My Home Depot

am i better off ordering lumber from home depot or a lumber co.?

i'm doing an addition to my house (bath and two bedrooms). i live in phoenix, az. would i be okay ordering lumber (2x6s, 2x4s, 4x6s, 4x8s) from home depot, or should i go to specific lumber companies (schuck, alliance lumber, or heldt -for those in arizona)? not sure if the quality of wood is the same or not. price wise, is home depot known to be higher priced than lumber companies? i could research this a bit, but this way is quicker.

1. Home Depot has the better pricing. The lumber company came help you with the amount needed from the plans.
2. Home depot or lowes would be cheaper. Number 2 pine which is an industry standard for framing lumber is pretty much universal quality whereever you buy it from. You also may be able to come up with a home depot / lowes 10% off coupon. I've bought them on e-bay before or i think you can get 10% off your first purchase if you open one of their credit cards.
