Would it be cheaper to buy a small house and add renovations or to just build it completely?

In the matter of what renovations, just think of doubling the small house(So like if it has 1 bedroom 1 bath, then the final house would have roughly 2 beds 2 baths. Just think of it like that)

  1. renovations are always cheaper than building from nothing, find a house that allows you to go two stories, check ccr to insure that you can do what you want, a house with a attached garage is always a good idea, you can build a car port for your car and turn that garage space into bed rooms and a bath
  2. In our area, the taxes would be much cheaper if you renovated than bought new the size you want.
  3. One way for sure to find out is to call a few different contractors and get quotes on a remodel and a new house. Most of the time it will be cheaper to remodel than build a new house but a lot depends on what all it will take to remodel. The kitchens and bathrooms are the most cost when building or remodeling.
  4. down size is can you get back what you put in it? all new stuff and a old house
