Is it wise to do renovations in an old condo?
I live in a condo building and the property is showing its age. I would like to do some renovations like bath, flooring, etc and plan to live here about 5 more years. Is it wise to upgrade my house when the rest of the condo neighbors stay the same, old and dated? I'm afraid to overdo it and not get my money back not because of my house but because the building is old.

- You need to look at the resale value of units that recently sold. You may not want to invest your cash if there's no hope of getting it back.
- I would make my living quarters comfortable without spending lots of money. There are many ways to change what you don't like without hurting your pocketbook. Cover floors with stick-on tile or place area rugs that match your furniture and will cover unsightly worn areas. You can them pick them up and take them with you when you move. There are inventive and cheap ways to update your bath also. You will probably get some return on any changes you make.
- A buyer will look at what other units are selling for. You can upgrade a bit, but don't go overboard.
- if routine maintenance is still being done on the outside of building i would invest in my condo with up grades when it comes time to sell your place will stand out even if it is more money
