Can Home Depot install laminate flooring with furniture still in room?

I have a small condo, and want to get rid of the carpet, and have Home Depot install a laminate flooring. However, obviously because my apartment is so small, finding somewhere to put all my furniture and my couch etc is going to be tough. Has anyone had any experience with this? Can Home Depot (or other) install flooring with all the furniture to one side, and then as they move across, move the furniture to the other side etc?

  1. It's definitely possible, yes. They might be slightly irritated though. But... It will hinder the process tremendously. Does the carpet have tack strips and padding underneath it? If so, You have to have the floor completely free of any staples from the padding and nails from the tack strips. They will have to lay new padding down before they can put down the laminate flooring. We're talking about moving the stuff a few times.
  2. Why have home depot do it? It's perfectly easy to do it yourself with a product like Bella Wood. There's no nailing or glue involved; just slats that click into place. But if you're unable to, I'm sure they'd be able to accommodate the furniture issue. I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure they'll understand your lack of space, just be sure to let them know in advance.
  3. Yes they can if they have enough room to work, but you should let them know beforehand what the situation is, and you will probably want to have some cash on hand for tips if they are the ones moving the stuff around.
  4. I had my bedroom laminated-all of the furniture was moved to the left side, and, the floor was put down of the right side-and then they switched.
  5. Absolutely, just call them for an estimate and they'll come over check out your place and tell you. I buy houses and fix 'em up and I've had all kinds of situations like this one, no problem. If necessary they might be able to temporarily use the hallway for a while, but it can be done..
