Are there home improvement classes for landlords?

I'm a first time homeowner/landlord of a two-family house and it'd be nice to get some basic training on plumbing, electrical and other simple home improvement tasks. I'm not looking for an apprenticeship, just something that will give me the tools to solve simple issues for my tenants. Are there any classes available in the Boston area?

1. Basically you can go to any HOME DEPOT for the classes they offer there You don't have to be a landlord to go either. once there check the bulletin board for more work shops
2. Well your taking the first step to being a good landlord, and that's fixing the stuff that is broke. As said Home Depot does offer some very good classes, and the people teaching the classes are very knowledgeable. Also maybe some hardware stores will have people working there that might know a thing or two about the task you are trying to accomplish. And there is always good ol trial and error. You might be amazed on what you can teach yourself. Good Luck
3. Be aware that you will not be able to solve all the little problems that will confront you in your roll as a landlord. However, continuing education that concerns the workings of a house is a never ending process. Success in this business is a continuing process of becoming involved. That said, your relationship with your tenants is paramount in having them report problems and failures in the first place. If they are not communicating with you then a program of regular landlord inspections will help.Classes from what ever source are helpful as is the inter net,how to do it books, trail and error experience,and common sense.Best advice: When some little thing is noticed, what ever it is,FIX IT!
