Renovations at work - how safe is it to continue working?

We're having our carpets re-done at work and instead of closing for the week, they want to have us all there, I am 6 months pregnant and I feel it will be unsafe and unhealthy for me to be there, breathing in all the crap that's in and under the carpets...let alone everyone else! How do I tell my work? Is it legal for them to make us stay?

1. Legal unless you have a Dr.'s note and they refuse to "honor" it, but I changed out carpets in my 100yr old house when I was pregnant and was just fine. My carpet was wayyyy old at the time too.
2. Tell someone in HR, if you dont have an HR department tell your boss you are concerned... then call your doctor and get a note written up stating it would be unsafe for you to work in those conditions- my would would probably let me use my temp. disability leave from Aflac if I had the doc's release...
