Why is everyone so concerned about feeding the birds and building them homes in Canada?

Would the birds not be around otherwise? Are these birds not geting everything on a silver platter in this country? Shouldn´t they be "more independent" ;) ? I mean birds you´d find in the gardens and trails; common birds like robins, cardinals, finches, humming birds, etc etc. The park authorities even encourage you to feed them when you go pass feeders in the parks, and take advantage for bird watching

1. what birds ? Bluebirds ? I think bluebirds have become so dependant on Human made birdhouses that they have forgotten how to make a nest on their own. It's sad really because there aren't as many bluebird lovers these days, so the birds are more scarce
