Our community is building more senior citizen homes to build on natures earth .I want to save the environment.

Our community is planning on destroying the last small peice of reserved farmland left in our area, in order to construct more senior retirement homes. Im not an enviroment freak, but i do have my boundries. i want to start a protest to help our enviroment and stop with more unnecessary excess building. I want to make an impact however, im not too old yet, and dont know where to start to get more people to join. HELP!

1. you are so right there needs to be more building up and not out -- farmland is being wasted for projects tha could be better built in inter cities!!!

3. This is not a question you have asked. Here is my input to your thoughts tho. What do you suggest instead of building senior facilities? And as far as building up, most of us seniors need to live on the first floor. After we have raised you, clothed you , fed you , and tried to get you a education, is it to much to ask to spend our remaining time in comfortable housing? Probably the last "small " piece if farm land is not being farmed anyway. I admire you for wanting to save the environment, but not at the expense of lack of housing for the elderly. You to will get there some day.
4. If the farmland is that small a piece the soil is probably already played out. You can form a group to buy the land but don't be surprised if the heads of that "green group" don't turn around and sell it to the highest bidding developer to put in a golf course or a mini mall.
5. and the baby boomers will keep coming, so we will need these places to live. lots and lots of baby boomers
6. If you want to save the environment start walking, drying your clothes on a clothesline, recycle. If a new building is built there, make sure it is a green building. Solar power. Use better vehicles for transportation. Use chemical free cleaners. There are lots of ways to do a small part to save the environment.

8. Yeo, spring is beautifull ... so is a apartment... besides my car to live in. Mother Earth is where us Seniors live, by the way ... LOL!!!

10. everything goes in cycles. Farmland is needed but so is senior housing. Since it's a toss up of which is needed more for your area, just be sure that other cities are having enough rentals for seniors then go ahead and keep the farmland as long as crops for eating are bieng grown on there. Your city can always tear down some old buildings and build senior housing there.
11. Saving the environment is one thing..the right to be comfortable in your old age is another.
