What can you do to stop or slow down building homes on 1 lot or half lots in established neighborhoods?
My neighborhood is filled with older single family homes and now over night we have been swamped with new buildings. Three story shotgun style homes are being built on a single lot 25 feet wide a 100 feet long, And now we are seeing homes being built in the alleys in back yards with no frontage on a street. Its to unreal to imagine but realtors under cover of night brought out our city council and zoning boards what can we do?

- Unless you own the property yourself, probably not much. All these new buildings have to be approved, so unless you start picketing and changing the attitutde of the governing parties, think about moving.
- Go to your city council and complain. If they do not listen to your concerns, fight to have them replaced at the next election.
- Talk to others in your neighborhood, business owners, local banks, churches... If you can show the zoning board that you are not alone with your views, that a few hundred other people think like you do, they will listen. I had a similar problem, and I was surprise how even my local bank felt the same way I did. The local bank liked operating in a community and saw what was happening to be destroying the community. Other small business owners felt the same way. It will require work.
