What is the best way to remove dust from an old house after renovations?
I have a hacking cough as a result of the renos. My wife is pregnant (and away on a work trip) and I want the house to be safe and comfortable for her when she comes back.

- shop vac all the dust off the floors that you can. wipe/wash down the walls with a sponge or wash cloth fiber mop the floors several times to get all the dust vac all the floors again- carpets several times wipe down the lights, fans, counters and cabinets too pretty much start in 1 room and just wipe it all down, go room to room. it shouldn't take too long wear a mask while cleaning so you don't worsen your cough
- vacuum, especially with a shop vac....and use a damp cloth to wipe down all surfaces and walls...don't forget trim work.
- I think you have your work cut out for you. Start at the top and work down using moist rags as much as possible to wioe down everything that moisture won't hurt. Keep changing or cleaning the rags to actually remove the dust as opposed to just moving it around. Last but not least clean the floors thoroughly.
- what I do during my spring cleaning time is, I wrap wet towels around my ceiling fan blades and turn it on. It's incredible how great it works.
