How do I get involved in building demolitions or total renovations?

I am a young, professional business woman with a business admin degree and since graduation, have worked in an office setting doing administrative tasks. I have always had a hidden passion for old buildings and the demolition or total reconstruction of them (starting from the bones of the building). I would like to start working towards getting involved with businesses that do this but don't know what background I need to have. I am good at mathmatics and have generally good mechanical skills. If someone could give a little bit of professional insight, that would be great.

1. Firstly, you would need to become or hire a Civil Engineer. The Civil Engineer is needed to assess any structural details in construction and demolitions. Secondly, you would need a Pyrotechnicial or Explosives Engineer if you are planning on demolitions using high explosives. Third, you need a Safety Engineer (yes, there are a lot of crazy engineering fields out there) to assess any potential risks. This is just the tip of the iceberg. You need OSHA permits, certifications, inspections, etc. and seperate HAZ-MAT and explosives permits and tons and tons of paperwork! Once this has digested, you'll find more and more things you need to plan out. However, if you simply wanted to renovate, you need a draftsman (or be familiar with requirements for engineering spec drawings) and a civil engineer to review and certify your plans.
