I need information on building a house.. loans and tips.? Me and my husband are currently in the market for a house. We found 2-3 we loved, the first we couldn't even make an offer because it needed to much work we couldn't afford, the second we liked but the location and price were iffy so we didn't make an offer and the third we made an offer and it looks like it is about to fall through because it needs work done to it before the bank will approve it and I doubt the current owner will do what needs to be done. We have been talking and wanted to get some information on "building" a home. My parents own alot of lots and would be willing to give us one as a gift to build a house on. I have a few questions though.. is it better to build your own house or look for months for the perfect house? We can only afford a house around 35,000 to 45,000 and all we are finding in that price range are old homes that have more wrong that right or small houses we hate. I know with building a house we couldn't be to picky, but I know you can pick out some of the things you want.. would it be possible to build a reasonable house in our price range? Also about money, we would need to borrow money to be able to build the house.. how does that work? Is it a home loan like we were already preapproved for or is it another loan? Is it harder to get than the home loan? (Like credit score wise.. we have a "fair" score of about 630 I believe, but we did get preapproved for 40,000 or a little higher home loan) An information or links to websites to answer my questions would be appreciated. How can I get the word out to others about a bad building contractor ? This contractor has made a multitude of mistakes on my home. Home Server information? I am building a gaming, photo editing, video editing rig in a next 6 months and i want to build a home server to go along side it for other users in my family to access music and other files. I have so far chosen a case which is a Lian-li PC-A71F and some hard drives, 10 WD Caviar Green Power 2TB. it is a ridiculous amount of space i know but its better to have the space when you need it then not have the space when you need it the most! Anyway what else do i need apart from the HDD, Case, PSU, MOBO and so on? Also how do i connect all the hdd to a 6/8 sata mobo? I cannot find a ten sata mobo anywhere! Also if i connected the home server to my pc via an ethernet cable would i be able to access the files still? or would it have to be via an I.p address? I'm new to all this server crap!

Trying to find historical information on a home? My husband and I are interested in buying a home in Southwest Ohio, we already live in the area. The house we are looking at was built in 1835 and is rumored to have been a stop along the covered wagon trail. To the residents of the town the house is known as "the post house". How to plan and calculate loan for building a home? I recently paid my car off and I have good credit. Not the best score, but good. I have some money saved up and live on good size farm, but I don't want to sell my land that I lease out. Plus I do have a full time job and get some money monthly for rental property--little income there. My current home is paid off--inherited and I plan to rent it out as well. Amerlink Log Homes--have you had bad experiences? Considering building a log home. I have spoken with Amerlink Log Homes on several occasions. Checked up on their CEO, a John Barth and their "director of ops" a Steve Slater. Both are rental uniform people with no log home experience whatsoever and appear to be running the company into the ground. I'm concerned about this. Has anyone got any information on Amerlink Log Homes (personal experience purchasing a log home from this company?) I would appreciate it!
Where can I find information about water main location for fire hydrant installation (building a home) in L.A.? I am planning to build a new home in Los Angeles on an empty lot and was told I need to install a fire hydrant. I am not sure where the water main is near or on the lot (although it is in a street with housing on each side). I contacted the city and they say they don't know where the water main is located (the lot has an easement, but the city couldn't find out what it is for, nor could the seller) and the fire department still hasn't gotten back to me. information about developers taking over private homes? Looking for information and articles of real estate developers taking over private homes. Reason being: One year ago the city annexed our area of the county. I live in one of the most desireable tracts of underdeveloped homes in the area. All around me are newer homes. Infact, family members of mine have (all of whom are in senior status) have sold thier acres to developement a few years ago. I need advise and as much information as possible on this please, I am thinking about building my own house? I would like to buy a 2-3 bed house but when I use the morgage calculators, inputing the cost of the property, ie, £65,000, the amount that the bank would lend is 25% to 85% which obviously does not give me enough to pay for the property. I have no savings to pay what the bank does not lend, plus on top of that, the monthly repayments over 25yrs is roughly what I earn per month. I have thought about another way of owning a house which is building my own house which I assum would be a lot cheaper. I would need land first, I know, but as soon as I buy the land I would need a builder because I cant build a house.
