What are the best renovations to make in a small condo? I bought a small condo conversion last year in a very desirable neighborhood. I intend to live in it for a while, but I would also like to spruce it up while I am here and possibly add some value. I know in houses it's a good idea to invest in the kitchen and bathroom, but does that hold true for small condos? What are the best types of renovations to make? The condo is pretty basic right now - carpeting, simple fixtures, very basic kitchen with an old laminate countertop. I would prefer to renovate wisely.
House renovations - where to start - need ideas, designer, architect? Hello Ive bought a house and i want to do some renovations to it, its very old fashioned and needs modernising and also I need some advice for design ideas. What service would be most suitable for this, is it an architect? Only, ive rang a few and they say i need plans before they will look at the project. I thought it was an architect that drew up plans?? Appreciate any advice on who helps with design ideas, and any website links? Im based in Leicester. Thanks very much.
What Features you like to see in a website for renovations? I have a good domain name for renovations and have 25 years experience in renovations. I would like to find out what anyone planning or doing a renovation would really like to see or have available in a large renovation website. I would like to create a website that people would "really find useful". Any comments or ideas greatly appreciated.
Should I keep extra laminate flooring after renovations? I just did some minor renovations and installed about 1000 sq feet of laminate flooring. there were a couple of boxes left over, and it's not a cheap variety... would I ever have a need to use the leftovers, or should I sell them and get a tiny bit of $ back?
Is it wise to do renovations in an old condo? I live in a condo building and the property is showing its age. I would like to do some renovations like bath, flooring, etc and plan to live here about 5 more years. Is it wise to upgrade my house when the rest of the condo neighbors stay the same, old and dated? I'm afraid to overdo it and not get my money back not because of my house but because the building is old.
Renovations?? Is there a site that will tell me the potential "gains" that I will get from doing home repairs? I know they say if you remodel your kitchen you will get xx% back when you sell...etc etc. I want to add a room to my house and a wrap around deck, but I don't know if the monies spent would come back to us if we sold. Thanks. Dee
Inside renovations for condos? I'm planning on buying a one bedroom condo. It's huge for a one bedroom and I'm thinking somewhere down the road I can add a den or another small bedroom. Can I do that? What are the normal laws for renovations of condo.

How do I get involved in building demolitions or total renovations? I am a young, professional business woman with a business admin degree and since graduation, have worked in an office setting doing administrative tasks. I have always had a hidden passion for old buildings and the demolition or total reconstruction of them (starting from the bones of the building). I would like to start working towards getting involved with businesses that do this but don't know what background I need to have. I am good at mathmatics and have generally good mechanical skills. If someone could give a little bit of professional insight, that would be great.
Is it reasonable for his ex wife to call home renovations child abuse? How to respond to this email? The mother sends requests that we stop renos because she considers it "child abuse" that we are exposing her daughter to toxic chemicals. She frequently sends emails "telling" us what we can feed the child, and that we are killing her because we don't use the bath products etc the mother uses. We are reasonable people, and look into the dangers of all we do in our house, but it feels invasive to receive 2-3 emails a week of this kind.
Are you sick to death of all the house renovations? thats going on in your street? I thought I would have peaceful day off today in our normally quiet street and all I can hear are drills, hammering and loads of lorries thundering by with skips and scaffolding. Is it the same where you live?
Home renovations that increase your house value? We are renovating our house and were wondering what reno's will give us the best selling stand point. We plan on renovating the kitchen (new counter tops, flooring and perhaps cuboards), painting, trim, windows, doors. Any ideas of what best let me know :) We want to eventually to put hardwood but the people who we just bought our house from put in brand new laminet in dinning room and living room. One bathroom was just renovated.
How much $ will I need for the following renovations? I'm trying to budget how much money I need to do the following repair or changes to my house. Although we plan on doing most of the work ourselves. I am also interested in what it would cost to have someone else do this stuff as well. Just looking for an estimate of how much I should put aside. ( I realize it will be expensive) If anyone knows I would love to know individually. If you onl 1.Privacy fence about 1/2 of an acre of land 2. Sprinkler system for 1/2 acre of land 3. remove and close up 3 prexisting windows 4. Change out cabinets in kitchen, add about 6 feet of cabinets, change countertops, will have to only add plumbing to move dishwasher 5. replace 2 doors (leading outside) 6. lay 3/4 of an acre of new sod 7. install a above ground pool and jacuzzi with some decking 8. replace two bathroom cabinets 9. ceremic tile about 400 square feet 10. have plumbing run to move washer and dryer into garage 11. Put sliding glass doors in an area where a solid wall now exsist If you only know one, that would be great too!
Anyone know a good discussion group for people making renovations on a house? Over the past year, I have had to deal with contractors for the first time and have been extremely frustrated. I am working on both my late parents' house, a house of my own I am trying to sell, and a house I am trying to move into. I would love to be able to vent my frustrations in a safe supportive environment. Any suggestions appreciated.
How are you going to vote for the Truman Complex renovations? Me personally, I am going to vote against them. I don't see the point in spending all of this money on losing teams. Don't get me wrong, I love the Cheifs as much as the next Kansas Citian but the Royals?? C'mon! It isn't worth my money to build a rolling roof for a SuperBowl. We will be paying for this roof for a long time after the Super Bowl has ended and it just isn't worth it! What do you think??
Renovations at work - how safe is it to continue working? We're having our carpets re-done at work and instead of closing for the week, they want to have us all there, I am 6 months pregnant and I feel it will be unsafe and unhealthy for me to be there, breathing in all the crap that's in and under the carpets...let alone everyone else! How do I tell my work? Is it legal for them to make us stay?
Anyone know of High School or College programs that allow students to work on local homeowner's renovations? I'm wondering if their might be programs in my community that partner local High School Vocational students or College students that would like some "Hands on" experience in the home renovation or interior design fields to use local homeowners willing to allow them to work on/in their homes doing renovation or design work in exchange for donations to the students respective learning institution or some arrangement that gives them some "payment" for their work?
Information on renovations on a budget? Hi, we are going to be moving into an older house, and want to do some renovating, but we are on a tight budget. We plan on doing most of it ourselves, my husband is quite handy. We will be hiring a "handy man" friend of ours that is quite knowledgable in regards to most things, including electrical , plumbing etc. (he is very afffordable). I was wondering how complicated and (material wise) expensive it would be to plumb a bathroom on the second floor (above the main floor bath)? Also to duct in 2 more registers? Thanks in advance! Hi, thanks for the help! The reason we want to add more registers is that the 3 bedroom upstairs has only 1 register, in the landing. We are going to be changing it to 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, and think that them having only 1 register was crazy! We're thinking of doing a shared wall one between the bathroom and bedroom, and then one in the additional bedroom. That's what the house we're in now has, and it works fine.
Should we bill our downstairs neighbours for work resulting from thier renovations? We live in a converted terrace house built around 1900. The people downstairs had work done to enlarge their basement and improve their property. The work went on for weeks and after it was done we notice that many of our doors and windows were jamming as the work has caused the structure of the building to shift. They got their builder in to fix it up, but there's been further movement and the doors are all jamming again. Can we bill them to get them properly fixed?
Where to begin with home renovations....? My husband and I just purchased our first home, and it needs some work, mostly small, but a couple of big things too... We need to replace the roof, as most of the trusses were built with 2x2's and could use to be beefed up. We're also looking into the possibility of re-pouring the basement floor, which is concrete, but would give us the opportunity to replace some aging plumbing, etc. In addition, we need to replace most of the drywall in the home, as there's no insulation in any of the exterior walls. Where should we begin, and what are we looking at spending on each of these projects? It's a single story 1200 square foot house with a simple gabled roof... nothing fancy.
Why did the Cotton Bowl get all those renovations? I past by there a couple of weekends ago and saw that they've added new upper deck bleachers and added a new scoreboard last year and new bleachers this year. Why would the city of Dallas spend all this money on this when the stadium will loose it's two biggest money makers in a couple of years (Red river shootout and Cotton Bowl game) to the New cowboys stadium? What other games do they expect to draw to this place?
Cost of building renovations? I am thinking of buying a run down bungalow and want to know a 'ball park' figure (per sq meter or sq foot) for cost of such works. The property is is Wiltshire.
