Home Depot Careers Knowledge Base
http://careers www.home depot.com? I filled out an application on line once before and i would like too know if it is still active I would request another applicathion form
Home Depot employees...can you help? I've already applied online to Home Depot through careers.homedepot.com...but it never asks for you to take the little quiz thing (where it's usually about 100+ simple questions as a way to score you on your common sense, how you would react to this and that, etc.) It has been years since I've been to the employment kiosk in-store...but the last time I remember, it had those questions. Did they just do away with the questions part, or do I need to go into the store and take the dumb little test through the kiosk? Is my application even going to be considered without the test, even though it didn't ask for one? The reason I ask is...I current work for an Office Depot (oddly enough, I seem to have some strange unknown happening to work at 'depot' stores) Anyway...you have to fill out a paper application...but if you don't take the "TSD" test, they won't even consider your application at all. Is Home Depot the same way for these online applications? Do I need to take an in-store test?
Why are the Home Depot cars changed for the rookies? I have noticed that Joey Lagano's car is white and Tony Stewart's rookie car had some white to and then turned orange the rest of his career with that car. So i was wondering is there a certain reason they add the white to the rookie Home Depot cars or is it just a coincidence?
Which is a better place to work, Lowes or Home Depot? I have 16 years of sales experience in floor covering. I just wonder if either of these companies would be a good choice to further my career. I worked for a local privately owned flooring store, but their business has decreased consistently over the last 3 years and it was a commission job.
What are some horticulture/botany related jobs and careers? I really enjoy working with flowers and plants. I work in the greenhouse in Home Depot right now, but I'm just wondering what some career opportunities are for someone interested in plants? I don't necessarily require a university degree, I just want to know different ways I can advance in my interests rather than home depot for the rest of my life. I live in BC, so I've considered working at a winery. Any other ideas?
Wondering about Security and Loss Prevention Careers? I am almost a senior in college majoring in criminal justice. I have been applying to retail stores (Home Depot, Roundy's, and a few others) for loss prevention positions. I also have applied multiple places for security positions. My problem is I'm not having much luck. Anyone who works in these positions, what are your qualifications? I have no experience in it but I am in school and you have to start somewhere. Someone please enlighten me on whats going on. Im located in Milwaukee, WI if that matters.
How can the US economy survive if it is all service based? Harvard Business Review states that over 22% of all careers in a service based economy can be outsourced. Significant numbers of businesses can easily be hollowed out by competition. Relative to what I've read there will be massive job loss and what jobs remain will be in companies that form monopolies (ex: Cisco, Walmart, Home Depot, etc.) or strategic alliances. Incredible numbers of businesses have no intellectual patent protection that would insure a place in the market.
My daughter and I breastfed a litter of puppies that we found behind Walmart? This morning, I went with my 25 year old daughter Nadine to go look for empty boxes because she's gonna be movin out of her boyfriend Al's apartment. We went behind Walmart to get some, and we found a box of adorable puppies that some meanie abandoned. We took them home and we could tell that those little young-un's were hungry so Nadine and me breastfed them. Nadine just had a baby so she's lactating and I've always been able to produce milk (my kids used to beg to come home for lunch during recess!). I don't have the time or the effort to take care of these darling hearts, but I'm afraid that if we feed them, they'll become attached. I know that you're not supposed to feed stray cats because they'll hang around and never leave you alone (I have the scratch scars to prove it!) Is this the same with puppies? I want to do all I can to help God's precious creatures, but I've got a demanding career at Home Depot that takes up a lot of my time. What should I do?
How should I list my work experience on my resume for an engineering position? I am in my final year of school in engineering. I am working on updating my resume. I am looking for my first post graduate full time position. In the past I have separated my work experience in to technical and non technical. I have had 3 internships and 5 non career related jobs i.e. McDonalds, grocery store, Home depot, library etc. Should I still list these on my resume? I know a resume should only be one page and with all of those jobs it gets really cluttered. Also should I list activities (clubs) I was involved in during my first couple years that I am no longer apart of. Thanks
What do you do about the woman at work who is always comparing you favorably to her husband? "Wow, you're so strong. My husband could never lift that." "You have a great education and career ahead. My husband dropped out of school and works at Home Depot." "You have great hair. My husband's seemed to start falling out right after we got married." "You've kept yourself up well over the years, my husband..." You get the idea. What are some good replies for women like this? I tend to mostly work with women, and they often complain like that. I try to never reply anything negative about said loser husbands.
What is the best retail chain to work for? I have been in retail for over 10 years and thinking of a career change. Before I do so I want to work for the best. Home Depot, Sears, Victoria Secret? Any suggestions?
Need advice about life, college, careers, etc.? Hey, I'm undecided about what I want to do with my life as far as having a career. My intermediate family is full of people with college degrees, and they want to force my life to be some fairy tale story. I would like to finish school too but I'm just not sure what to take up at this time, and to remain in college would be a waste of time and money for right now. Is there any particular jobs that require little or no training where I could atleast get out on my own and be able to afford a small apt/decent "cheap" car until I'm on my feet and decide what I want my career to be? I do not want to leech off my parents. Is it possible to have these things working full time at basically any ol' job around town? (Wal-Mart, Mall department store, Home Depot. etc.)...???...or maybe something I could get certified in within some months/a year or something and make a decent amount of money???
Thinking of changing careers..? How many people out here go for the job that pays the most.? I work right now at a hotel front desk. I have done this work for about 10 years, I like it alot but it seems to not pay that much or have that much advancement.. I was thinking of find a career in a higher paying field, but do not know how to find out about it .. I am meaning something as simple as moving to Home depot. How can I find out FOR REAL what they pay and what benefits they have..? I do not know anyone that works at any of their store. Will their human resourse office tell me the real truth or will I get the 'if depends on when you get hired" I hear that a lot. And when I say I have worked in the field for 10 years I DO NOT mean I have been at the same job for 10 years. My current job I have been here for 5 months and my last I was at work 8 year untill the hotel got sold and we ALL got let go. I have worked for ALL types of hotels. from CHAIN ones to no name ones. They pay about the same because of where I live right now, and have not plans on moving to a bigger city . Just because it is a chain does NOT mean that will give me a better opportunity, 99% of them are independently owned
HELP. Suggested careers/ jobs for me? I have decided to leave my current job and wanted some job suggestions for some growing industries or positions that I can qualify for, also an environment that would suit me well and pay decent... I have ONLY a GED, I'm twenty, and female, somewhat bilingual, i'm creative and motivated, I have two visible but respectable tattoos (sleeve and wrist) and will be married in two weeks. I like to be relaxed in my workplace and preferably not have to false hospitality all day. I would like to be in an active environment because I become bored easily. My previous job experience: optometrist technician vendor representative for home depot full time nanny cook/cashier/entertainer at chuck e. cheese demonstrator at grocery stores acting in stock footage for food chain hostess for hotel restaurant manager for thrift store thank you all. That ebay idea is a good one. thank you also, I put this in Polls and Surveys because there isn't a correct or incorrect answer and I'm asking for opinions. Felt this was a better spot for my question. thanks, yes I do plan to goto school. I LOVE education, however I'm in the middle of getting married and another move across country and then when I settle I plan to get back to school. I hate making excuses but I feel my priorities are in order for right now.
Where do I go with my career from here? I've been working as a Hilti tool vendor salesman in Home Depot for 8 years. I've enjoyed my job over it's duration. I wanted to a Regional Maanger position but didn't get the job after 3 interviews. So, basically I've hit the glass ceiling and am at crossroads. My only other viable option within the company is outside sales which I don't really desire. I'll do it if I can't get anything else but, I really enjoy marketing in retail or sales. What am I qualified for?
When are they going to promote me already? I have a bachelor's degree and never wanted to make a career at Home Depot anyway, but after seven months of excellent work put forth, I feel I am overdue for a promotion from being a lot attendant/cashier into a department. I've asked the store manager personally at least 5 times, and in each case she said she would look into it. I am always receiving praise and recognition for the good job I do in the lot, but I see people hired from outside the store into departments ahead of me or people in departments changing departments all the time. When are they going to pay me what I'm worth? Should I continue asking or try to find another job?
Why do I feel I have to do more? I'm currently working in real estate and I love it! But sometimes I feel I'm missing something career wise. I've always loved interior design. I kinda want to work for a place like home depot doing kitchen and bath design. As well as I've always wanted to own a bridal shop. I feel like I'm torn between these things. I have a good job now, why do I feel I need more? Thanks.
Is a job at Petco better than this deal? My girlfriend was recently called for an interview with Petco in their grooming dept as a bather/brusher. She was told they'd probably offer her 40% commision, however she just got a position a week ago with Home Depot as a cashier for $8.00 an hour. She would much rather work with the animals and we both have a feeling the hours with petco will be much less trying and stressful on our relationship than Home Depot. Neither one of us have an idea how much of an income hit this change in career would be since we don't quite know the demand for the position or its pricing. I'm hoping a few actual PetCo Employees can give us an idea of what they pull in on an average so that we can see if it's worth it.
whats better 4 jobs or one career? My sister has 1 career job that she gets 65k a year from plus her paying off her college loan. My briother who is younger has 4 jobs. Pizza place, bartender, mcdonalds, home depot. He makes 110k+ a year. With no college loans to pay off. But he only gets limited sleep. He says hes used to it nd it dont bother him anymore. 3 hourse is all he needs. Whats better , because i dnt wna go to colleege if i dont have to.
Job descriptions for Cashier, Sales Associate & Sales Representative? Hello, Could you please tell me job descriptions between Sales Associate & Sales Rep? I am thinking of applying for Sales Associates in Kent/Home Depot, but I would like to make sure that I understand things right. Do I have to make sales target as a Sales Associate? What kind of questions will be in the interview? Also, I would like to know between cashier position and sales associate position have the same career advancements when working in Kent, Home Depot & Dominion (only cashier position)? Thank you very much
What is a good career for my fiancee? My fiancee curerntly works at Home Depot overnight on the freight team-using a forklift, stocking, unloading trucks etc. He hates working over night and wants something that will pay more and could possibly turn into a lifelong career. He graduated high school but does not have a college education. He is really interested in sports. Any ideas? Even if it doesn't have anything to do with sports, I am open for suggestions! Thanks so much!

should i marry my fiance who believes in housewives, or join the army which can help me get through college i was supposed to marry my fiance of three years on april 6th of this year. he's in the army, stationed on ft. benning, ga. the plan was that i wasn't going to go back to college and resume my junior year until this fall, and that i would work part time at the home depot near base, just transfer from the home depot i worked at in my hometown. he and i were living in our house on base, furnishing it, decorating, planning the wedding, etc. on april 2nd, we were going to fly to his hometown in nebraska for the wedding on the 6th, and the day we were supposed to leave, he received orders to deploy to iraq. i had to move back home. home depot wouldn't let me transfer back...it was terrible. i had to get an apartment and job, asap. i had to start over again. i woudln't have been able to do it without the love of my friends and family. well, he and i have continued on like normal, essentially making a joke out of the whole thing, and saying its going to be a great story to tell the grandchildren. and then...the other night, he and i were talking, and he essentially told me that it was okay for me to hold down a part-time job, but that once we had children, he expected me to be a stay at home mother...and he doesn't care that i want to finish college, but he's made it clear that he want's a housewife...i never knew this side to him, and i don't know, maybe its a sign. maybe i shouldn't have married him...but i have days, like today, were i wished i could have him home to take care of everything and pay the bills. i've been thinking about a career with the army or navy because i know i won't be able to afford college on what i make now...but he's dead set against the military...i just need some input...some advice...
Should I wait for the call? They said they would call back.? Hi there! A few weeks ago I went to a career day at the Home Depot and applied for a position at the paint counter. I had an on the spot interview (group) and then was requested for a second interview. I went to the second interview and answered a bunch of questions, did a role play, ETC. When the interview was over he said he wished all interviews had went as well as mine and that I did a very good job on the role play, catching many details others have missed. He said he was making a list of people for the hiring manager to call back and he said I would be one of the ones to get a call back on monday or tuesday and he asked me to hold out for them because he really wanted me working in his department ( paint ) He said I was not nervous like most of the others he'd interviewed and that he needed someone with my disposition and personality to work in his department. It is now tuesday and no call back, should I call the store and ask? Or am I just not hired and he was sugar coating everything. not tues , it's wed sorry!

Picking a career for the future? I am 20 working part time for home depot in my small town and i just cant stand it! the thing is i do not know what i want to do with my life, i have always wanted to join the Marines and eventually do some kind of private security work aka bodyguard because i love protecting people. I have never really desired to go to college because the lack of money, but if i want to make any kind of decent money (50k-100k) i am going to need some kind of degree and that is where i am stuck at.What kind of careers will be lucrative in the future? i love making people happy and just making people's life easier, a lot of people say study to be a doctor but i feel i am not intelligent enough to become a doctor lol ....i see now this is more of a rant than a question lol its just very frustrating trying to find out what i want to do because seems like every job i research its impossible to get and i have no idea where to begin. P.S. its not all about the money but who wouldn't like to have the nice car, and not have to worry about getting something if you needed it? people say money does not buy happiness and i kind of disagree with that.
What have your experiences been dating someone with a different approach to education and career? Last week, I went on a date with a man who is 28. He is not degreed and is currently working at the Home Depot 15-30 hours a week earning $8/hour. He is enrolled in two community college courses and is still debating what path to take in his education. He lives with his brother and his brother's wife. I'm 27 and earned a master's degree at age 23. I'm in school again making a career change, but I do already have a career and own a home, although money is tight and my mother lives with me----not a perfect situation either. This guy I met is very sweet, but I'm already bothered by the fact he seems less ambitious. It would be a few years before he was even done with his education, and I would be more open if he was working full time and taking classes.... I feel like I am in a completely different place. He's very nice, but I foresee this as an issue because I'm already "judging" his approach. We went out last night and were supposed to do something today, but he said he does not have much money for this. I'm used to dating men who are more established, but I feel guilty for being so apprehensive with this one. Anyone ever been in this situation?
What place sounds better for a job? im only 16 and looking for a summer job so dont think of it as a career Staples Best Buy Target Marshals Les Schwab Jiffy Lube Tires Plus Kragen Napa Rite Aid Walgreens Bed Bath and Beyond Home Depot Smiths Raley Scholaris Meeks oh and im a guy dont fu**ing tell me what website to go on a question like this you dumb***
Why can't I get my career together? I'm in my 40s, college-educated, a former US Naval Officer, and I've been bouncing around from career field to career field for 15 years. It seems as if I'm taking steps backward. I had such big dreams when I was younger, but I've kept taking jobs of less responsibility, and ones which require less intellect. In the past, I've stayed in a given field for 2-3 years and then bolted to try something else. At first it was OK, but now I'm married and in midlife. Now I'm working as a licensed home remodeling contractor, but I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever grow this business, or will I end up as some 62 year old man dragging his sorry butt into Home Depot at 7:30 each morning to get materials for handyman work. I look around and all I see are people who have *made it*. What am I doing wrong? I can't keep going like this.
jobs posted on a company's website? Hi, so I was just wondering... if when you go on a company's website, like say Home Depot or Petsmart or something like that and you click on careers and do a search for a store, and then it says "14 positions available" -- does this mean that they are currently looking for people to fill these positions? Or does it just mean that those are the general positions that are at the store, and if you'd like to apply you can but they aren't necessarily hiring? I applied at the petsmart that just opened near my house like 3 months ago, and never heard anything back from them. But now I just went back on their website and it says 14 positions available. So does this mean they are hiring, or just apply if you like?
Should I gump down my resume? I just lost my job in the Mortgage Industry, and I've been applying to several places, but nothing is coming through in my area. I am considering taking a job at the Home Depot or Kohls just until I figure things out, and to have income of course. The thing is, when I go to apply to these places, I don't want them to think I'm overqualified to stock shelves, because my resume shows dollar amounts and sales quotas, etc... So my question is, if I'm applying to a part time or full time hourly retail position, that any 16 year old kid can do...should I gump down my resume? And second, If the interviewer asks...what would be the best response to give, as to why I'm demoting my career?
Is Herbalism and Alternative Medicine endangered? There're less and less college majors for that and herbalist careers are growing rare... Unless you count working at Whole Foods, Home Depot, Lowe's and Teavana. Well, I'd like to work at Teavana... Anyway, the point is that everyone wants the natural... everything! Natural cotton, natural walnuts, natural yogurt, natural veggies, natural fruits, natural soap bars, natural lotion, and the list goes on. Well, first off, we can't make natural medicine if we're lacking the ancient knowledge of herbs, spices, infusions, and plants... Also, out in the wild, where flasks and chemicals are not found, plants always exist and when someone is injured or sick, we need to cure them as much as possible. This will especially occur when you're going to camps or on hiking missions.
lost in life, now what? ok so i completed high school, went through for automotive, got out into the industry, worked for 1.5 years in it, decided that the physical part was going to leave me old and decrepid early on in life. i chose to leave that industry and maybe head on to college or another industry, got into the home depot worked for 8 months loved it but they cant give me full time, which i really need for all those harsh reality payments :( i am decent in math, hate english, work well with a plan and as a team, and im not afraid to get out there and try something new, im not the bossy type but will argue when i know im right. need suggestions for careers or schooling, preferably schooling first, resulting in a higher paying job. im very lost in what i want to do, and dont just wanna go spending hundreds in random college/university courses...please help!!!
Can you suggest a part time job? I am writing for two 23 year old recent college graduates. I majored in Criminology and Government and work full time as a Paralegal. My boyfriend majored in IT and works full time as a computer consultant. We are both looking for part time jobs 2-3 nights per week and 1 day a weekend to help save money for a house, wedding, extra night out to dinner a week. We want low-stress fun jobs, since both our jobs are high octane serious careers. We also both want to pull away from our fields, we don't want to be buried in our fields every second. We're looking for decent pay- minimum wage for bachelors degrees doesn't work. I have applied at the liquor store and starbucks, he's looking at home depot and borders. Any extra unique suggestions so we can keep applying? Thank you for your help!
is going to school at my age a good idea? I am in my 30's and back in school as of this past September.I am getting very dicouraged with what major I should pick for someone my age. I am very greatfull for getting a college education, but the main reason for doing this was to switch careers after being a roofer for 12 years. I want to make sure that I just pick something , and not go back and forth between majors. I now work for home depot. Does anyone have any advice for me on what degrees are going to lead to a job that is actually obtainable for someone my age.
When a female military officer has a civilian husband, what are his career prospects? I very much want to join the Army, active duty, hopefully career. My boyfriend and I have been discussing marriage, but don't know how it would be possible as I would have to move around quite a bit and we doubt his career field would be very forgiving of this. He's a research biochemist working in a government lab. Most military spouse career pages I see reference jobs at Home Depot and the like, and most of the support groups are for women married to military men. What do the spouses of career military gals do? Yes, he would be willing to work in medical labs (he's currently doing mass spectrometry in a cancer research lab). While there are jobs everywhere, I'm more concerned with the impact on his resume. I'm wondering if military spouses find it difficult to pursue a career when every year or so the location changes.
do you think delonte west aka lebron's step dad is broke? he has made about 14 million in his career and he applied for a job at home depot. maybe he just wants the employee discount? http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Delonte-West-is-seeking-out-a-hardware-store-job?urn=nba-wp7562
Where can I get paid to donate plasma or other blood products in Atlanta? I've been unemployed for months, have a college degree and have even been turned down - during the holidays no less - at Target, Office Depot, Home Depot and more besides trying to get a career position again. Unemployment ran out months ago. I know a lot of people feel it's unethical to "sell" blood, or donate for money. I think starving myself is a pretty poor alternative. At least I'd get some groceries and gas (a little, anyway!) and hopefully help someone as well! Thanks for the help...I tried web searching and didn't find much on my own.
Job interview question? Called for a second interview? Job interview question? Called for a second interview? Hi : ) I've been looking for a fulltime job for a few weeks and finally went to a career day and applied for one at the home depot (I'm still a student) anyway so I applied and went in for an on the spot interview and they requested to have a second interview with me tuesday, and that I should bring my drivers license and social insurance number, along with three previous work experience references. I have another job thats part time that wants me to come in and work on wed from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm and I'm worried I'll be at that job when the home depot calls back. Will home depot hire me on the spot if they like me? Or will I have to wait for a call back the next day? Help me please!
Career change to Doctor at age 31? I graduated HS in 1996, joined the army for 4 years, got out in 2000. and have been lost career wise ever since. I was in a technical profession in the military, but have not been able to get into , and sustain a good tech style job. I ended up in retail while looking for work and ended up being very successful, ultimately becoming an assistant store manager with home depot. A very good playing job at 65k a year, but with the down turn in the economy, I again find myself out of work and looking. I just enrolled at the local community college here in the pursuit of a degree in technical project management. But I am still not sure this is the path I want to take. the IT industry is great, but sadly... I do not feel like I am helping anybody with anything important. With home depot, i got satisfaction in helping people build their dream house. I recently started thinking about medical school, I am very logically minded, and have a gift for problem solving and trouble shooting. Possibly inspired by the TV show house, I started thinking about becoming a doctor. The more I think about it, the more I think it would be the prefect career for me. so here is the question... I am 31 years old, wife and 2 kids. living on unemployment, approved for financial aid and have my VA benefits for school. I have NO college at all...So i would be starting fresh, is it practical at this stage in my life to become a doctor? We are talking what.. 8 years of school? So theoretically I could be done with school at the age of 39, thats not THAT old right? My project management career is 4 years of school, my retail management background gives me great experience to add to my resume, as well as my technical background in the military. with a PM degree, I am sure I could land a great job quickly. But....... I really want to be a doctor. thoughts?
WHAT KIND OF CAREER AND JOB SHOULD i LOOK INTO???? I am almost 20 and I have had a few jobs. I want a good job or a good career path to go into. I dont know if I will eventually go to technical college or not, if I do it will be for a year or two im not looking to be in school for a long time. Anyways I will tell you about me and you tell me what job or career I should look into. I want a job working from morning till afternoon monday through friday. No Weekends!! I like hands on working but only to a certain extent. I am good with computers, I am a fast typer, I took several computer classes in high school. I want to make good money I dont want to have to struggle yet I dont have to be rich. I am interested in technology. I like electronics. I would like to know your opinion of what kind of job I should look into getting right now and what kind of career I should look into. I have had some small jobs at a retail store, construction work with my grandpa, and working as a merchandiser for a plant business through home depot. i need to make at least 10 dollars an hour right now
why is ontario second career geared to help the government? According to the government, if you have an Az licence you are considered to have a post secondary education, regardless of whether you have recieved any training or not in college, if it says az on your licence, you have post secondary. Meanwhile many people get the licence without any training at all. Now here is the funny part, you can get the licence legally without training from a college as long as you pass the required tests. If they made trucking like other trades you would be required to have college training in order to get the licence. The reason why they do not require the training is because they know full well what would happen, the rates of transport would go up and it would make it a more rewarding career, not too mention let people behind the wheel with training. For years our government has lobbyed to keep the rates down in transport. And now they are willing to put people through the second career program to help them get an az licence, at the cost of the publics money. But where are the wages for the drivers ? That is not their concern. Their concern is to pretend there is a demand for drivers, really when there isnt. This way transport costs are lowered even more. Now for someone who has 2o years experience with an az licence, watches opportunities dwindle, rates drop and absolutely no future. each year the penalties are increased and fees and renewals, the list is huge of the fines you can face.In my opinion, the rates are so low now as a driver, combined with the risks it pays to just work at home depot. Atleast you dont have to worry of your own personal insurance going up because of an incident while you are working. Also, your whole career is over if there is an accident then what ? Well i guess since you have a post secondary education, lol you can get a government job lol
Need help with Career/School/Job/Life Choices.? Hello people, I'm at a standstill. I dont have a job and I am no longer interested in what I was in college for. I want to (and eventually will) get a degree of some sort or trained/certified in something down the road. However, as of right now, it's no use wasting money semester after semester UNTIL I decide what I want to pursue, BUT, at the same time, I dont plan to be under my parents roof too much longer. So I have a few questions 1) Consider these things. I am a single male, with no kids, living in the deep south in a mid-sized city where the cost of living is actually below national average. If I decide to take on any full time common job I can find around town (Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Best Buy, Sears, JC Penney, etc.)..would I be able to live on my own in an apartment and still have a few dollars left over to just enjoy myself on the weekends in town (nothing fancy..movies, club, etc.). I just want to be able to be on my own and OUT OF MY PARENTS HOUSE DEPENDING ON THEM, working a JOB, until I decide what CAREER I want to pursue. 2) What are some alternative career paths to four year colleges? hmmm..thanks nick
On resume career objective question? I'm trying to get a part time job because I'm in college and I need the money for gas and well everything else. So I need to write a resume but I don't know what to write for my career objective "I really need money for gas?". I don't think that will score me any points. I'm just doing my core classes for two years then I'm going to another college for a certified program to become a vet. tech. but what does that have to do with working at Home Depot or Taco Bell? The only "job" I ever had was babysitting my sisters friends kids so I have no idea what I'm doing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you. Emely what the heck are you talking about? Did you evan read the question?
what is a good paying...? retail store kind of job...i'm 20 years old and this will not be my career just looking to get some cash while in school...right now i'm at petsmart and they pay crap... i've also worked at home depot...so disregard that answer
Hydraulics Project Help? i need to make a hydraulics projectfor the class the is very simple for example it has to have a pump ,lines, valve a Reservoir(tank) a actuator if possible something to act a a relief valve if possible and a pressure gage if possible for example one student that took this class went to home depot and bought the lines he connected them to two small tanks one with hot water and the other with cold water e made a valve to open hot and cold water like a sink.and that was it others used air pumps for bycicles and soda bottles as tanks something not really expensive.well i don't care about the price but because my teacher is wack and the highest grade he'll give would be a 70 which is the grade that determines my career because if i get lower i would not be able to get my licence well i need something simple any ideas ?nd were can i get the things like pumps lines and tanks in NYC to whoever helps ill reward with 100 points by choosing top answers in multiple of my questions.

Should I divorce my wife? I'd like some help getting some perspective on this. I'm really struggling. I have a dead end job, but I have good business ideas that I can get going if I really buckle down and invest the time and effort, but I feel like dealing with my wife is robbing me of all my energy. We've been together now for 7 years and the way she treats me just keeps getting worse. Where to begin...? She is pure selfishness. I do everything that I can to improve things between us and to have a loving relationship with her, but she complains and picks fights with me every single chance she gets. I'm not doing anything that is just for myself, I don't even do the things I need to do to get my career going, because at the end of the day spent taking care of her needs there simply isn't time and I'm completely out of energy. A small example: Saturday morning, I wake up with our 2 year-old so that my wife can sleep in. Then, she wants to go shopping, so I take her to a store where she window shops for hours and I take our daughter along with me to home depot to get stuff for home repairs. Saturday afternoon, I get started on some home repairs and she takes the baby and goes shopping with a friend of hers. Saturday night, like most nights, she sleeps in the baby's bed and Sunday morning she wakes me up without any good morning, but yelling at me to clean the kitty litter, complaining about she wants to give the cat back to the shelter (she used to really love cats, now, even though she pretends to love our daughter and our daughter loves the cat, she threatens to return it everyday... she's acting exactly how she's described her own mother acting when she was a child). I get back to work on home repairs, wondering when I can work on my business and she takes the baby out with the same friend. At the end of Sunday, I've had no chance to do anything but home repairs and I want to do some work for my business, but I also want to spend some time together as a family, but all she can think of to talk about is all the other stuff that she needs me to do, and about how she wants me to take her shopping. I suggest that we've done enough shopping for the weekend (really, SHE has) and she says if I don't want to take her shopping, she'll go with her friend. I suggest that we spend some family time together and she says "fine" but soon we have a conversation that ticks her off and she's not speaking with me. Here's the conversation: She: "You didn't stain the side of the house there." Me: "I will but I need to get some stain." She: "Just use what you used on the deck." Me: "I don't think it will look good. I'll get the right color stain." She: "I hope it doesn't rain." It might seem odd, but by now, she's looking away from me and not at all interested in spending time together. It's as though she needs me to just follow orders. Should I lose this woman? I focus everyday on thinking about what I appreciate about her and it's getting harder and harder. She doesn't want much connection with me. She doesn't want to support me in getting my career going. She doesn't do anything to get her career going. I know divorce is complicated, but I feel like it will make my life much simpler. I look for ways all the time to break our rut and improve our connection, like surprising her for lunch and taking her to her favorite restaurant... she admits that she can't remember the last time that she acted like our connection was important to her.
Should I stay with my husband even though he makes less than me? We've been married for almost 2 years. When I met my husband he told me that he didn't finish college and that he was working as a department head in Home Depot. I thought that he would go back to college and finish a career, but he does not want to go to college. I make more than him, but I don't make a lot of money so I feel that we can't start a family because he's never going to have enough money. I finished college when I was 22. Now I'm 24 and he is 30. We don't have any kids. He cooks for me and pays half of the bills but there's not much communication between me and him. I found him talking to girls and now I don't trust him (even though he says he stopped).
what are some good...? paying retail stores that pay well?? i'm 20 yrs old and i don't plan on this being my career i am just looking for a good paying job in retail until i get my degree and i've already worked at home depot so disregard that answer
How would I end a personal essay about myself? Please help.? “Wow”, I’m back to College. I thought after attending Bryman College I was done with school, news’s flash that was the being of nothing. I always said that by the time I was twenty-five I would be done with my Bachelors degree in Business / Accounting, and that I would own a house, with no children. Well I’m twenty-four years old now. I just started going back to college, to peruse my degree in Business / Accounting, which I always have dreamed of having. I am happily currently married and have a beautiful 19-month-old son, who keeps my hands full. My son Michael is the reason why I decided to go back to school. Life right now is not going as planed, but I would not change it for the world. I graduated from Pioneer High School in 2002. Right after High School I attended Rio Hondo Community College, however that did not go as planed. I was working part time at Home Depot as a cashier and attending Rio Hondo as a full time student. I was not completely focused on school, I knew that I wanted to be there but for some reason or another, school was not for me at that moment. I then attended Bryman College and graduated with a Diploma in Business Administration, which lead me into the career that I want to peruse. I am majoring in Business Accounting because I like numbers and I find it very interesting when I have to do audit research. My first office job was at Katzkin Leather Interiors Corp, where there I started as an Accounts Receivable Clerk. I really enjoyed my job, but after two years there I found it very boring, doing the same thing over and over. There was no room for advancement I then found a better job at Paragon Schmid Building Products, where there I was the Accounts Receivable and Billing Specialist. I was very happy there as well but after two years there I became pregnant. After maternity leave I did not return back to work because it was too far of a commute for me. I then found a better paying and closer job to home, which was great. I then realized that these jobs, I am getting only require a High School diploma. In about five years from now, I want to be a Graduate from a Cal State University, with a Bachelors Degree in Business / Accounting. I want to peruse my career in accounting working for the FBI or the IRS. In about ten years from now, my son will be eleven- years old. I would expect to have a house for him. I also see myself financially stable, maybe even having another child. I also see myself growing in the company, which I would be working for. In about twenty- years from now, my son would be twenty-one years old. I would expect him to be attending a University finishing his first two years of college. I would only be in my forty’s so I would still be working. Or maybe I would have my own business, a tax service company. Or maybe I would go back to college to get a Master’s Degree. But in order for all my dreams and goals to become reality I have to first earn a Bachelors Degree. Currently I’m attending Cerritos Community College, I am working on a Business Administration transfer program, which would transfer me to Cal State Dominguez Hills or Cal State Long Beach, to earn a Bachelors Degree in Business / Accounting. I know by coming back to school, I am going to have to conquer many obstacles, especially now that I have a child. However I see this as a new beginning for me, and it’s for the best. I came back to school for many reasons one being that I need to further my education in order to get the career I want. Second would be family values, I want my son to go to college too, and I would have to set an example for him. Third, I feel that by going to college it will make feel better about my self, in the sense that I have educated my self. Fourth I feel that if I want a better future for family, and myself I must earn my degree.
Is architect the job for me? I've always liked to make floor plans of homes and churches and other building, since I was like 10 year old, And I spend time looking at a lot of them on the computer & stuff. I don't know why but I like it. ha ha And when ever I go to home depot or Lowe's or anything like that I always take those free booklets of paints and the pictures of the insides of the homes. I really like that stuff and I want to know if Architect is the Job for me. If anyone out who is one can tell me what I should take in high school, because im only 15. My class has to do this Career Research test thing. And I want to know if that would be good for me. okaaaay, thaanks (:
What should I do about my relationship? Im 19, and my bf just turned 21. We have been together for almost two years in August. Basically, our relationship turned serious within the month. I love him with all my heart and weve been through alot BUT sometimes I feel like he tells me things...like his goals and such...so that I can "feel" like his trying and I wont leave. When I meet him he wasnt in school(he was taking a break) but he was working full time making okay money not the best and he ALWAYS paid for me when we went out. But he quit his job when he went back to school so that he can focus. I was under the impression that he was going to find another job though bc thats what he told me. I started paying for us when we went out...AND I would pay for things he needed SOMETIMES but it ended up making me feel like I was his mother. He live at home with his parents but he mom does not want him to work and basically supported him to be lazy. I dont like that bc I wasnt raised that way to not work for what you get. I was working at Home Depot and i referred him to work there so after me annoying the hell out of him he finnaly got a job...but the thing is he didnt want it. bc he would always go the work late (he had to be there 3am) or not go at all so soon he got fired. So i basically told him that i wasnt doing it anymore and he cried and told me things would get better. they kinda did but he never got another job bc "he wanted to focus on school". he just got a job in his career field, but what pisses me off is that he believes that you should have to work at all and if he works he should have to have out at home with bills...BUT HES 21. WTF So anyway im really mad bc im 19 and ive have a job since i was 17 (its part time but i got to school fulltime) i have some bills (phone and car insurance) but nothing too major but I belive WORKING IS A MUST not a choice when you become a adult. am i wrong? is my relationship going anywhere or will i be raising a child for the rest of my life? im happy with him but i dont like that he has no responsibility at his age? what should i do? talk to him? or what? i just fear that if he loses his job if we get married he will get lazy and not find another one. What should I do? I dont like how he slept all the time and not doing anything and when i wanted to take a day off bc i was tired he told me i shouldve done that. wtf we all need a break....you used to get one everyday. SORRY ITS SO LONG...IM DONE VETTING NOW!!!!!!!
Hubby Changing His Language? I have been married 25 yrs. My hubby's checks would always pay the bills, my checks were for the food gas, other things we needed. He works for the county, I am a hair dresser. We are in debt of only 3,000. We are on the same page to work hard at paying all debts. We have been debt free before a few times. Our debts are home depot, and vacation we both agreed on. This past year ,oh and we are 45 and 47. We have life insurance policies. Our bills are never late. We are ahead in pay off our credit card. Okay so he is talking to be a lot lately and putting presure to get another career with health benifits and sick leave. I've been doing hair for 21 years. I have no dreams of becoming anything else in this stage in life. I am working in a salon rent free. Sometimes I make more money then him sometimes now. Most the time not this past year. He keeps showing me ads in the news paper for jobs I have no training for and have no desire to give up my dream job. I'm rent free come on that just doesn't happen. I don't have to pay electric or water. Why do you think he's after me so much to change my career? If I were to change I would love to bake, I didn't do that 21 years ago cos I don't want to gain more weight. Being around food all day long. Or a Cd store. Thanks for your help and time to answer.
quitting without notice? I have history of quitting jobs without notice My first job was working on target, I quit and told my supervisor that I'm leaving My secound was at home depot, I also quit not giving any two weeks notice My third job was at post office, I was a casual and I was lazy to go to work that day and decided that I do not want to that job anymore Among the three, I really regret quitting my job at the post office (2 weeks after I quit). I could have the chance of having a career there, job was easy and money was okey, i was a casual but I could have the chance of having a career there with good pay and good benefits. I realized my mistake. I was lucky to have that job in an economy like this How will this affect my future job hunting?
Where do you think I should work? (high school student)? I'm a 16 year old responsible female, going into grade 11 of high school and I'm looking to get a job at one of the following places: -Swiss Chalet -Home Depot -Tim Hortons -East Side Marios -Shoppers Drug Mart -Burger King -Price Choppers -Zellars -Party Depot -or clothing retail (Garage, Urban Planet, Sirens, etc.) I was hoping you could help me decide through (1) your personal experience, (2) off-hand knowledge and (3) what you've heard about these companies. Which place/s do you think offer the best work-environment, opportunities, skill training, benefits, and post-secondary assistance (scholarships, tuition help, etc)? Any information, comments, opinions, stories, etc. is greatly appreciated! p.s. My job experience is babysitting and tutoring. I currently have a summer day-job as a Camp Counsellor with my city (for 3 weeks of the summer). I also volunteer frequently. I do not need a job that reflects my hopeful future career (Neuroscientist), just a job that will provide great experience and benefits. Thank you for your time!
If de la hoya and mayweather will fight then who will win and why? Will it be better than the first one? Undefeated, p4p, welterweight champ floyd mayweather is looking to fight oscar de la hoya in a rematch. I think that this fight wont be different at all and mayweather will win. If anyone agrees or disagrees tell me why or why not? If oscar somehow wins will it finalize his career with tht signature win that hes been looking for or will this fight be on whose bringing home the most money? This fight is not finalized yet but it is scheduled for suptember 20th at the home depot center.
What are some good jobs to get with an associate degree at age 19? It's tough I know - I have 3 years of college down and just two years left to go to my bachelors in biochemistry. I would like something more sophisticated than alberstons or mcdonalds, home depot and such. Is this possible? Or should I just wait instead of training and investing time in a lower end career?
Six Sigma- Will it help resume? I am 26 and have worked in human services for about five years, before I took a break and went into merchandising. I am at that aweful point in my career, where I realize that the training and education I have so far, is not enough to give me the extra boost I need. I was recently interviewed for a really good supervisor position and bombed the leadership question and realized that I don't have enough leadership skills and experience to move much higher. I really can't afford to accept a lesser position and I am afraid I am not going to have a job in March! My company supplies the Home Depot- and you know, the housing crunch right now... Will six- sigma make me more marketable? My Plan: (Potential ironic Career change.) Get SIx Sigma Certification (Lean) Get Certification in property management (Despite housing crisis, commercial and apartment estate still strong) Get real- estate license IS this enough? Or do everything else above and get helathcare management license
I want to be a successful business person. I'm 23yo with no guidence? Ever since 16 I've worked these jobs at places like mcdonald's, best buy, sears, lowes, home depot, a bank, costco auto program and was dismissed from them all becuase I didn't play the politic game well. I didn't become friends with the managers so i was fired for excuses like selling something to the wrong person (1st time offense). I work at fedex, ymca, and foreword air, but my life is still hell. I want to dj, do something musically, draw, still work hard do something instea of killing myself. I go to community college and I've been there for 5 or 6 yrs. failing class after class for general education to transfer to a major university. I figured out that business is what I want to major in. I love electronics so that is something I want to push. But I have skills in so many other areas of life. I grew up hard within broken homes and gang infested neighborhoods, I live in San Diego and I'm just looking for a push of help. Nothing reliegious, just a career to benifit from.
What should I even do? Well where to start. Basically, I messed up school bigtime. I came out of high school with a decent GPA, nothing too special. I graduated 08' and now I've been at community college for 2 years and I've literally accomplished nothing. All I have done is added a bunch of W's to my transcript. I have around a 2.0, probably a little lower. I am working full time at home depot and I don't mind it because the money is actually pretty good. It is not a long term career though. I will probably never join the military, but I have been considering either becoming a volunteer fire fighter or even going to fire academy and graduating that to become a full-time fire fighter. I just feel like in the past 2 years, I've accomplished basically nothing. My transcript at my community college sucks and I am at least taking one semester off after this. I don't know if I can even go back to that college. Can I start fresh at another school possibly? I really don't even know though, but I need to do something with my life. The path I am on right now sucks though. I do smoke weed sometimes but only once every few days. I guess that could contribute to my problems. I also smoke cigarettes, and have tried to stop. I got to about 4 days and gave in and bought a pack. I am just really confused and I feel like if I had some direction, then I could be much more motivated. I don't even need to be super rich either. I want to make a decent living and eventually have a small house with a backyard. I am also trying to save up enough to get a truck as well. I am a virgin as well and since no one on here knows me it doesn't really matter that I say that. I guess it is because I don't really care too much about pursuing anything, which I want to change. Maybe getting laid would change my mindset? I have a few opportunities to get laid, but never acted on it. I am 20 too! I am a really nice person though and help out people even when it isn't needed. But yea, basically to sum things up: fucked up school, need to get laid, and am completely lost. Should I stop smoking as well because I have already cut back a lot? I do want to be successful, but I need that motivation to get there.
How come they get hired? I work harder!? I perfectly understand that the economy is in terrible shape. I've been looking for a job for like 3 months now. I've applied at over 50 locations. Everything from Target to Macy's to McDonald's to BK to Home Depot and many other places. So I'm 16 years old. It's not that I can't get a job that frustrates me the most, its that other people my age are getting hired but they are lazy type. I work extremely hard at school and get straight A's and have extra curricular activities (clubs, sports) and these people get F's D's and you know, yet I hear about them getting a job all the time. It seems like they don't give a damn at school and for some reason it seems that they can get a job so easily. I'm really annoyed. but at the same im thinking ahead. what can do to increase my chances of getting hired? where can I apply since I've already applied at tons of places? by the way I check career builder and monster everyday. and spend hours trying to fill out those applications online (they have like 200 questions) and then not get hired. any tips?? WHAT CAN I DO?
How can I get around the requirement of most big companies to apply online if I don't know anyone there? I have a lot of human resources management and employee relations experience earlier in my career, and more recently sales and customer service experience. I will be laid off soon from my current employer after nine years due to a downsizing, and have applied online for management and hourly positions with large companies like Home Depot and Whole Foods. The only thing I've ever gotten from large companies like those are automated responses acknowledging receipt of my application. I know that my interpersonal and oral communications skills are very strong in addition to an impressive background. But one does not get a chance to demonstrate those skills in an online application. I need a job ASAP and want to work for a large employer like the ones I mentioned above because they offer health benefits, advancement opportunities and reasonable job security. How can I network with someone inside such companies when they are all adamant about accepting only online applications? It doesn't matter how polite you are or who you talk to if you visit one of their stores in person, all staff are trained to say, "Go to our website and apply online." I don't want to sound like I'm boasting, but I know that I can speak and write much more effectively than many people you see working in large retail stores, as well as display a more polite customer service attitude than many retail employees. I'm frustrated. What can I do differently to get a phone call or an in-person interview with companies that only accept online applications? I welcome all suggestions.
So if I get my Class A licence? If I get my Class A license, then will a like home depot, or some in town trucking company hire me with no experience, so that I can get experience for about 6-12 month? I wanna get experience so I can get into some of these trucking companies that I really like, but can't get there without experience.. That little Blocker... Anyone on here a trucker, or trucker company owner, I would highly appreciate someone talking to me about this. Or just some ideas to get there... I have I have 3 more years of school, and have been looking into the industry sense I was about 8.. I'm currently 15, and I don't think i'm changing my mind now, just because I like being on the Road, going new places meeting new people. I'm fascinated about the career, and know it's a big task.
is video game design a hard field to get a job in? i want to become a videogame designer for a career when i get older, its the only thing that i can imagine myself doing the problem is that my cousins, cousin got his degree in video game design or animation, and he cant find a job anywhere and now hes stuck working at home depot until he finds a real job so would it be worth going to college and get my degree in videogame design, with hopefully the field opening up more in about 4 years, or should i follow my family legacy and go into the navy? i really want to go to college, but at the same time i kind of want to go into the navy...my uncle tells me that its hard to get the kind of job that i want in the navy as well well if i were to join the navy i would do that my cousin is doing now and become a CTN, id be working with computers and make very good money, but video game design is something that i am passionate about, my uncle was also saying that if i do the navy then they will pay for my college if i decide to go back and do game design?
What should I get my boyfriend for Christmas? My boyfriend and I will be making our three month anniversary about one week before Christmas. Here's some background on him: 1. He's 22. 2. He's a paid firefighter & loves his career. 3. He loves the outdoors-- fishing, riding his ATV, diving, riding his street bike, etc. 4. He loves watching movies, especially comedies. 5. He hates shopping for clothes, but he's a guy so he loves Academy (the sporting goods store), Home Depot, and he goes to Walmart a lot. 6. He's not really into video games. 7. He likes any music-- rap, hard rock, country... 8. He doesn't wear any kind of jewelry. That pretty much sums it up. I was thinking about maybe getting him some gift cards, but wasn't sure if that was a bad idea. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)
what is a good paying...? retail store kind of job...i'm 20 years old and this will not be my career just looking to get some cash while in school...right now i'm at petsmart and they pay crap... i've also worked at home depot...so disregard that answer

Anyone else enjoy some sweet revenge? I went home last week to take care of some business. A girl I knew in High School that jilted me for a jock ran into me. Started telling me about how happy she is with his great job and such. When she finished I had the joy of telling her, I own that company. Then I had to ask her what happened to his NFL career she bragged about when dumping me. I later found out he never even went to college and is a janitor at the local depot we have. Made an extra point of stopping by to see him. HAHAHAHAHA My last day there I deliberately had a hired limo take me to where she works and had a manicure, left that girl a C-note tip. Am i evil? I don't think so. mtv8r, she was the one that brought it up to me when we ran into each other. Has reading comprehension died around here?
Where do I start off in New York City? I will not have my highschool diploma, and i will be 16 (a junior). Some things in life have made me have to live on my own, but I have a job now and some money. I have been trying to start a modeling career in NC but it hasnt been going too well, so i figured i would try my luck in the city I love, NYC. I found a bus from NC to NY for $80 and im going to take my chances while I still have time. I might be crazy, but i want to start a new life and forget about my past, and I think NY is the place to do it. I have no friends or family there, and i found an apartment online for over $800 a month, and a job opening as a cashier at Home Depot, so i might do some odd jobs for a while and find a way to get a place to live and food, and I should be ok. Any idea on what part of new york to start? I know not the upper east side, but i am clueless and need some advice. THanks :)
